'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' is a very different rom-comProducer Karan Johar says his next film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is inspired by the films of Woody Allen. So instead of usual Bollywood mush, the romance in the movie tips more towards witty banter. In an interview with a news agency, Karan Johar reveals that the film’s director Shakun Batra is a big fan of Woody Allen films and has therefore brought a very different idiom to the rom-com.

“This is something new that Shakun is attempting here. He is a big fan of Woody Allen and brings with him a different grammar of filmmaking. As a result of that, you would see a lot more conversation happening here. You would notice that in many a Hollywood romcom, there are these walk-talk sequences where it is just you and the camera in motion. You would see something similar in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu,” Johar is quoted as saying.

Karan Johar, himself a past master at the romantic genre, thinks that directing such a film as Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is a tough task. “It is far tougher to find connectivity with an audience since there are no buffers like dramatic pauses, background score, props to enhance a scene. It is just the actors doing their talk and the trick is to hold a viewer's attention right through their conversation,” Karan Johar said.

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is slated to release on February 10. It has Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor playing two characters who end up getting married after a night of carousal in Las Vegas. “Imran is meant to be this very perfectionist young man. So while he is a very stuffy kind of a character, he is also very focused and doesn't let himself go. On the other hand Kareena plays this woman is who like a modern version of Geet from Jab We Met,” Karan Johar revealed about the two characters in the film.
