Film releases are not elections: Riteish DeshmukhComing from a political family, Riteish knows the game very well and loves to dwell more on the films politics than the hard core ‘netagiri’. But, the recently hitched actor never ceases to give you a glimpse of his grasp on the subject. The actor recently graced the office of DailyBhaskar with his co-star and now wife Genelia D’Souza to spill beans on love, marriage, politics and much more.

Despite being the son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh, Riteish preferred to take the road towards Bollywood and has no regrets to make the decision. But, films don’t keep him away from politics and its nitty-gritty.  “I love politics. I like keeping myself updated about the worldly affairs”, said Riteish. So, when asked if he plans to join politics sometime soon, he promptly replied, “To be a part of active politics is all together a different ball game. Right now, I am enjoying doing films and would want to concentrate on it”.

Well, films is what makes the actor happy and he is all set to share screen space with her long-time girlfriend and now wife Genelia in upcoming film ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’. The actor calls it a desi rom-com which will surely tickle some funny bones. “I was happy to sign the film as I liked the script and it is good to share screen space with Genelia after a long time”, he added.

Though, his film is set to release against Biapasha-Madhvan’s ‘Jodi Breakers’, the actor is unfazed by the competition. In a politically-correct manner, he said, “Film releases are not elections that the audience has to pick and choose just one film. We are not here to compete with each other. We want people to like the film and both the films are equally good”.
