Kapil Sibal Makes Bollywood Debut, Turns LyricistTelecom Minister Kapil Sibal is turning Bollywood lyricist. Sibal, an author and SMS poet, makes his Bollywood debut with a romantic number, Tu bataa, which will be featured in a film called Bandook: The Film. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Telugu actor Aditya Om, who has also directed and produced it. The script aims at establishing the nexus between crime and politics, and how gun culture is the symbolic link between the two.

Aditya plays Bhola Kevat, a boatman who rapidly rises the ladder of power, thanks to his trigger- happy ways. The film set in the rustic backdrop of the Hindi belt highlights gang wars and power play to condemn violence, Aditya told the press recently. Sibal, who courted controversy in the recent past over his suggestion that the cyber world pre- screen website content before going live, apparently makes his debut by chance.

According to Aditya, the actor met Sibal in July 2012 at a concert in Mumbai where Sufi singer Zila Khan sang a few songs penned by the minister. When Aditya was introduced to Sibal, he asked if the minister could pen a song or two for his film. Sibal, in turn, wanted to know what kind of film Aditya was making, so the actor mailed a few introductory links, including a song that the late Jagjit Singh recorded for the film.

Once Sibal agreed, Nikhil Kamath, music composer of Bandook: The Film , sat down with him to finalise the song. Additional lyrics for the other songs in the film have been penned by Shiv Sagar.Tu bataa , the number penned by Sibal, is a song on separation. It talks of two lovers who are forced to part ways owing to circumstances. Bandook: The Film is slated to release in the first half of 2013.
