Waheeda Rahman, Shabana Azmi help raise £300,000 for underprivileged children

Indian cinema's veteran stars came together to help the Akshaya Patra Foundation UK to raise funds and pledge to help thousands of underprivileged children in India with free school meals at The Sparkle Ball, a Glittering Fashion Fundraiser. The 'Akshaya Patra' Foundation UK is the world's largest NGO-run school meal programme, which feeds and educates some of India's poorest, underprivileged child.

Among the leading social glitterati, dignitaries, charity ambassadors were veteran stars of Indian cinema, Waheeda Rehman, Shabana Azmi, and Javed Akhtar. The event was held at Vinopolis in London to celebrate The Sparkle Ball - a glittering night of haute couture fashion. Among the other 400 of the High Net Worth (HNW) individuals from Indian community in London and India were LN Mittal and family, the Chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK Harin Thaker, and the advisory board members, Yogesh Mehta, Prashant Jhawar, Nirmal Banthia.
