Kunaal Roy Kapoor of Delhi Belly fame was in Kolkata recently. We spoke to him about Nautanki Saala, weight loss, orange juice and more in a freewheeling chat You have lost a lot of weight. Is it for Nautanki Saala? No no. If I didn't my wife would have thrown me out of my house. It took me one and a half years to lose 20 kilos. Tell us about your role in the film... I play Manadar Lele, a middle-class Maharashtrian. He is suicidal at the beginning of the film, but then he meets Ayushmaan's character who saves him.
The story is about their journey. These days producers are not just relying on big stars but are trying out fresh talent. Is the trend changing? The big star films still work. A Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan can never go out of favour. But the trend right now is that film with good content — like Kahaani, Vicky Donor and Paan Singh Tomar — work at the box office. These days, the audience wants to see an entertaining story. The star factor doesn't matter as much, but the content does.
