Synopsis

Former King Vikram Pratap's is a strict disciplinarian and will not tolerate any error on anybody's part. His household, consisting of his wife, Yashoda, and two sons, Surendra and Mahendra, is run on a tight schedule, which starts at six in the morning, and ends at nine at night. When Mahendra breaks some of these rules, Vikram loses his temper and grabs hold of a cane to punish him. Before he could beat him, Mahendra dies of fright. Surendra rebels against his father, and decides to leave the house. Surendra fully lives up to the freedom that he has attained. He feigns love with a poor city girl, Mala, flirts and teases her, and then ultimately falls in love with her. Mala is also attracted to him. When Surendra hears that his father is ill, he goes to meet him, and they talk. This talk changes Surendra's thinking and he starts taking an unusual interest in a poor girl named Rani, who dances and sings on streets along-with two ex-convicts. When Surendra's friend, Ratan, takes an interest in Rani, a row breaks out between them. Mala and Ratan are both puzzled over Surendra's interest in Rani. Has Surendra fallen in love with Rani? What is the secret behind the change in his feelings?
