Deepika Padukone's talent and affability make her a favorite with directors and keep her shooting calendar packed with dates. So when a director's schedule slips, he has to trudge to the director of Deepika's next film for help, because Deepika has no dates to spare. It happened with Ayan Mukherjee recently when the schedule for this Yeh JaAwani Hai Deewani slipped. He had to request Rohit Shetty, who is directing Deepika's next film Chennai Express, to spare Deepika for another two days. After wrapping a schedule of Chennai Express in Wai, Rohit Shetty moved with this team to Ooty for the next schedule starting April 10. Deepika was to join the shoot on April 10, but after receiving the request Shetty allowed Deepika to continue shooting for Ayan's film on April 10 and 11.
Deepika will now report on Chennai Express set on April 12.The fact that Shah Rukh Khan is involved in both the films (as producer in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and as lead star and producer in Chennai Express) must have made the decision a no brainer for Shetty. Because, on an earlier occasion, when Sanjay Leela Bhansali had made a similar request for completing his film Ram Leela, which pairs Deepika with Ranveer Singh, Shetty had turned it down. But then that may have been because reportedly a Bhansali team member had been rather rude to a member of Shetty's team.
