Virtual run for Farhan Akhtar

The makers of Farhan Akhtar’s next, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film recreates the era in which it’s based on-screen. According to a source in the production house, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures, a post-production creative team is working on rebuilding an entire stadium using VFX. “The film is set in the ’50s and ’60s. To get the feel of that time and the spectators cheering for the athletes, these portions are being recreated using computer graphics.

They will be seamlessly merged with the original shots later,” says the insider. Till now, the sequences where Farhan is shown running, were shot at a stadium in Chandigarh. “Since the film was shot in a real stadium, we will be using the field shots from there as well. But the final edit will carry a combination of VFX and these original shots,” says the source.

Apparently, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is spending long hours at this job. “It is heavy post-production work. The film is not only about the person but also about a particular time in history that needs to be captured,” says Rakeysh. He also rubbishes reports that claim that Milkha Singh, on whose life the film is based, sat through and supervised the edit of the first trailer of the film. “This is news to me.  Why would I ask him to sit in the edit? This is my film,” says Rakeysh.
