I’m not part of any camp: Asin

Actress Asin has possibly had the most envious line-up of co-stars, ever since she made her debut in B-town. The actress, who has had a very successful run down South before she stepped into Bollywood, had a dream debut in Ghajini opposite actor Aamir Khan. In her second film, she was paired opposite actor Salman Khan. But the actor does not believe in mixing her professional life with personal life. Ask her if like many other actors, she too turns to her former co-stars for advice and she denies it.

“I am in touch with Aamir on and off, but I have never really turned to him for any help or advice. I did wish him on the birth of his baby recently but beyond that, we do not talk about work. My personal equation with him is independent from our professional life,” says Asin.

Having worked with Aamir and Salman, what’s stopping her from doing a film with the third Khan Shah Rukh?“Of course, I would love to work with Shah Rukh. He is one of the best actors we have in the industry. If a good project comes up then I would love to do a film with him. I have hardly started out and there are loads of talented actors out there,” Asin explains. But considering there is a clear case of campism in the industry, does it not inconvenience her to work with most actors? “No”, she says emphatically as she continues in the same breath, “I am not a part of any camp in Bollywood. What we call camps are basically people who share a personal equation with each other and work together. They are people, who are friends off screen...”

Camps aside, there were rumours about her having signed up for a TV show recently. Is she considering doing one? “I haven’t thought about TV as yet because I want to solely concentrate on films. I have been to shows as a guest on a talk show, but that’s about it. I don’t know if I would be able to take up TV right now.”
