Just a couple of years back, Akshay Kumar ruled the box office with a series of hit films. With the success of Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome, Akshay became the king of comedy movies.

Though his high-profile film Tashan made under the Yash Raj Films flopped, his fans loved him as Bachchan Pandey. His next film Singh Is Kinng opposite Katrina Kaif also gained commercial success and earned him a Filmfare Best Actor nomination.

Akshay's most ambitious project Chandni Chowk to China, which was said to be inspired from his own journey to fame, turned out to be a box office disaster. Since then, Akshay has starred in many big budget projects like Kambakkht Ishq, Action Replayy, Tees Maar Khan, Patiala House, Thank You and Desi Boyz. However, all left him craving for the box office success.

Now, the trailer of his forthcoming film Housefull 2 is making waves. With some big names in the star cast of the film, the buzz was obvious. It is a sequel to Sajid Khan's Housefull, which was released in 2010. The star cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Asin Thottumkal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade, Shazahn Padamsee, Riteish Deshmukh, Zarine Khan Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty.

Initial response to the film is great. After the phenomenal success of Hrithik Roshan's latest film Agneepath, the Housefull 2 team is also hoping a century for their film. According to the media reports, Sajid Khan sent a note to his team on the first day of the shoot saying 'Welcome to the biggest hit of your career'.

As sources claim, Akshay Kumar has complete faith in Sajid Khan's impeccable record and didn't even think twice before saying yes to the film. Sajid Khan's previous films Heyy Babyy and Housefull grabbed eyeballs. Let's wait and watch whether he will be able to complete his hattrick with Housefull 2 or not. More than anyone else, Sajid's close friend Akshay needs a hit. The film will be released on April 5, 2012.

2012 is an important year for Akshay, as he will also be seen in Rowdy Rathore, Joker and Khiladi 786 this year. Shirish Kunder has made big claims about his 3D film Joker and Akshay's role.
