Using her Charmme right

Under normal circumstances, Charmme is her own harshest critic. The actress is taking a departure from self-critical behaviour, this once,as she can’t seem to stop raving about her looks in the much publicised film, Dev Son Of Mudde Gowda. Catch a glimpse of Charmme in the song Dil Se and you’ll know why she is so thrilled. “I hardly compliment myself. If anything I keep cribbing about how I should have worked harder on my looks. But when I saw myself in Dil Se, I went... ‘Is that me?’ Director Indrajith Lankesh had promised to picturise me differently and he has lived up to the promise,” says the actor.

Charmme plays a choreographer in the film. “My body language is very tomboyish and my clothes and attitude are loud. I even got to do certain dance moves that I always wanted to do. On the whole, the film has been a very enjoyable experience. My co-star Diganth also made sure I had a good time. Our comfort level reflects in the film. Dev… is a colourful, cheerful and entertaining film.I am very confident of its success,” she says.

The other films in her kitty are equally promising. “I am doing a film opposite Mammootty called Tappana. I play a lower class woman who comes out of jail after five years. There is also a film with Telugu director Chandu but I can’t talk much about my role,” she says. And have there been any offers from the Hindi industry following her acclaimed performance in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Buddha Hoga Tera Baap? “I am doing Zilla Ghaziabad where I play a role that will come as a complete contrast to my act in Buddha… Here I essay the character of a typical North Indian girl,” she says. Are there more offers from the Kannada industry as well? “I have six-seven offers but am in no hurry to sign films. I have done 56 films so far and I don’t want my fans to see me doing the same kind of roles. Dev… offered me a refreshing script and hence I came on board,” she says.

Dev Son Of Mudde Gowda is set for an April release. Indrajit has also planned an online release. It will be made available to users across the world on Cinecurry’s YouTube channel. The facility is not opento Indian users; they will have to watch it in theatres. The film will be released in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune and Delhi as well with subtitles.
