Will Salman be brand ambassador of Sri Lanka Premiere LeagueSo what if he doesn’t own a team in the Indian Premier League, the Ek Tha Tiger actor, we are told, has agreed to be the face of SPL, bollywoodlife.com reports. His B-town friends Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty own a team each in the Indian Premiere League (IPL). Even his arch rival Shahrukh Khan owns one (SRK’s Kolkata Knight Riders won this year’s IPL edition, remember?).

But Salman Khan, we gather, is eying a different market altogether. A little birdie tells us that Sallu has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the inaugural Sri Lanka Premiere League (SPL).

Bollywood is big in Sri Lanka and Salman has been approached to be the face of the cricketing tournament. If you remember, Sallu stepped in to be the face of the IIFA Awards in the island nation when Amitabh Bachchan bowed out for various reasons. That seems to have created some kind of bond between the country and the star. We hear that though no official announcement has been made yet, Salman has agreed to endorse the SPL.

After all, if the Sri Lankan cricket legend Sanath Jayasuriya can shake a leg for a reality show in India, why can’t apna bhai make his starry presence felt on the beautiful island, all for the sake of cricket?
