Bipasha Basu: 'Beautiful women get bad roles'

Bipasha Basu has said that attractive women do not often get good roles in Bollywood. The actor was last seen in a cameo appearance for the action thriller Race 2. She told The Times of India: "You have to be lucky to get good roles and not every actor is blessed to have a run like Vidya Balan. And not many roles are written for beautiful women. "Life is easier if you are a hero. You know, I have been called 'Bongshell' [since] the day I stepped into showbiz. So, any adjective coming my way, I take it positively.

"Sometimes it's also entertaining, but I don't feel bad about it. I'm a proud woman. Yes, I am single and I don't have a man to piggyback on for anything. I've been here for 12 years and I'm not going anywhere." Basu signed up last month to appear in what producer Vikram Bhatt has described as the first ever Indian "monster movie". Bhatt said this week that the film will not feature a male lead because they are expensive and the monster is the film's 'hero'.
